Re: Light Dory Type 5
Ticked at my broken scanner, I just installed a new one.
Scans of the March 01 article on the type V are now in the files
section of:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger4photos/files/
Enjoy, and get a metric tape measure.

he can't, because the return fax number is missing or is illegible.
Also, I have noticed that sometime the prices published in the
magazine are not current after a few years have elapsed.
Light Dory Type V is written up in a chapter of his book
_Small Boats_, sadly out of print, but available in better libraries.
Also, is was written up in volume #16 of Boat Design Quarterly,
which I think is still available in reprints.
And, it was briefly mentioned in Small Boat Journal Vol. #7,
a scan of which is here:

There's almost enough to build from in one of his books, Small Boats
maybe.
Light Dory Type 5 was also featured in MAIB of 15 March, 2001 saying
plans were available for $50. Also a few new b and w pics in the
article, including one of Phil at the oars.
What fax number did you try, he is usually very prompt about a reply?
If all else fails, send him a cheque by snail mail.

This be my first post here so hello to all. I am a big fan of double
enders and my dream boat is a Gunning Dory al la Gardner.
Unfortunately
it is a little beyond my means at the present so decided to go with
the
light dory type 6, a beauty as well. Got the book and started with the
task of finding
some local woods and, well, you know, just dreaming of the day. Then I
ran across a pic of the type 5 and it stole my breath away. take a
look
at the similarities,http://www.boat-links.com/DepoeBay/04/Freedom-
02.jpg andhttp://www.boat-links.com/messabout/02/Dory-1.jpgin
overall
shape at least. I know these are quite different hulls but that
double
ender beauty is there. Sadly there is very, very little information
out
there about this double ender from Mr. Bolger. I faxed him but did
not
hear back. Anyone out there able to help me out?
