Anyone here try the luff tie system shown by Payson in the second
instant boat volume? Did it work as he claimed? Dennis
I used that system on my 14' 6" dinghy (Can't think of the designer's name
darn it, getting old is no game for sissies) The only problem I had was that
boat had a jointed and hinged mast and it was a problem to get the luff tie
over the joint, it kept wanting to stick there and hang up on the sleeve at the
joint.
The other possible problem is that if there is a break in that one line all
is gone, but with individual ties the loss of one leaves you still sailing.
I am planning on going back to the individual ties on my new Cartopper which
is hiding in those sheets of ply lying in my driveway.
