Re: box keel power cruiser

Sam:

I went thru the same process before selecting a design. My
suggestions:

1. Mr. Bolger will probably give you a single reply which may or may
not suit your needs. He is very busy and, no doubt, awash in such
requests. A response WILL come but it may be weeks. Lacking a
printed or online catalog, it can be hard to match Bolger designs to
your needs SOOO.... go to the library and get every book he has ever
written. This is the closest you'll get to a catalog. Other
posters
can advise on whether he will do mods for you.

2. Cast a wider online net - look at other designs, Paul Fisher's at
Selway-Fisher in England was where I ended up. There were no
Bolgers
that matched my needs so picked a Fisher. Paul made major
alterations
at no extra charge and has been very responsive.

3. Last resort is get a marine architect to do a plan. If you are
considering metal (aluminum or steel), this may be the only way to
get
CAD files output for automated plasma cutting.

It's not a motorsailer by any stretch, but if you want
to go to Tahiti in a boat that size, Bolger's Tahiti
will get you there.

Every time I think I know all the Bolger designs of a
certain type, somebody brings up a new one. I'd be
interested to hear what this group's thoughts are
about which boat meets the following criteria:
offshore capable power cruiser, in size the maximum
trailerable (32' by 8.5'), shallow draft (3', less is
better) box keel, displacement hull, inboard diesel,
glass pilothouse, ply construction. Something like
the economy motorsailer, only bigger, or shady lady,
only smaller. I've asked PB&F, but no response yet.
Thanks, Sam
