end plate on folding schooner

Ibuilt a short wide end plate for the olding schooner when our lakes
got really shallow. It draws 8" , the same as the hull. I made the
below waterline area the same as when the rudder was deep.. end plate
is 4"wide on each side. nothing fancytood 1 hour to
glue ,screwand ,fair and paint. it tits up out of the waterwhen the
outboard is down.
the leading edge tucks ahead of the pivot line of the rudder to give
very light steering that my kids can handle. . being a swing rudderwe
rely on a big wing nut on plastic washers.
When sailing the rudder slows the rocking affect over swells, and
steers in the shallowest of waters and the lightest of breezs.
I'm not sure where the original blade is n the shedas the endplate is
simply brilliant. I'm sure that I have posted a photo somewhere in one
of the bolger sites, but if you want a photo email me off site aand
I'll dig a photo out.
