What a wonderful series of photos of a superbly rendered boat! If only
my early winter days were so tranquil and glorious.....!

Sincerely,

Peter,the dreamer..............
Yes, she (Dolly-T) rows very well, in fact the wind, what there was of it died altogether and dad rowed her the last mile back to the mooring. The rowing position is actually forward of the centreboard. No ,certainly the centreboard should be raised when rowing and the boom raised up as much as possible using the topping lifts.

More freeboard than imagined? - No she's built exactly to the plans, I suppose not having a contrasting sheer strake might make her look higher sided ?!

I would have to agree that it looks a little calm to be singing about
'those in peril on the sea.' I suppose a leviathan of some sort could
have broached beneath the boat and thown you into the water. Didn't
the original concept for Story include rowing in calms? I suppose the
oarsman would sit aft of the centerboard. PCB would not have the cb
down under oars.

She looks to have more freeboard than I imagined. Just as well, I
guess, as Story's sailing area can be rough as well as calm.

floated in the USA, and, I hope and think, immediately shouted down.)

My Father and I went for a sail yesterday in his 'Harbinger' 15'
Catboat "Dolly-T".

There was hardly enough wind so my brother, Dominic towed us down
river behind "Merlin" so we could gently sail back with the tide to
the moorings.

The wind was very light. You can see in the photos that there wasn't
enough to stretch the wrinkles out of the sail!

She moved though and even in the light airs tacked beautifully!

The only hassle we had was when the cop boat came and hassled us
about not wearing life jackets!

It was quite a pleasant way to spend an early winter's afternoon!
