I asked Phil Bolger about this, and he wroote that a wood mast
would do fine, and that is what I built. I used Home Depot
framing lumber, selecting the nicer sticks from the pile, the
wood cost about $20 total.
The good news is that I shall be back in the water only a week after
breaking the mast !

I reset the sail this afernoon. I have added an adjustable mast lift
to allow me to move the reefed sail up when I have the family on board.

I see from the Lug rigged micro that I must have the mast in about the
right place. There is no doubt that Phil's design is cleaner. I wish
I could have afforded to go with the Chinese Gaff of the Navigator,
but it was too costly as the calculations point out that the mast does
need to be Aluminium, which was about £300+.

Any way I have a junked rigged Micro, and please Phil do not take
offence at my experiment.

I will hopefuly get some pictures of her sailing soon. We have had
such winds here for the last two weeks I hope things calm down soon.
