Re: Micro Mast Idea..
Your idea sounds a lot like the tablernacle Bolger designed for
SeaBird '86. Seehttp://sites.netscape.net/nohnpages/original.html
If you really need to raise/lower the mast underway, it might well be
worth the weight penalty.

It has been a Holiday weekend over here in England for past few
days.. Friday, Saturday and a bit of Sunday Boatbuilding.. Bank
Holiday Monday (only the English could name a holiday after the day
we close banks!!) I went to an area of England known as the Broads...
A
network of navigable waterways and lakes with fine sailing...
Because of the bridges over some of these rivers.. Many of the
sailing vessels (most are 25' to 35' long) are fitted with a tall
tabernacle arrangement on the top of the deck made of wood or metal
in some cases, allowing the mast to fully pivot about 2' above the
deck.
I am thinking that this would be a great idea for my Micro. Initial
thinking would be to secure the Tabernacle through the deck and to
the hull...
Any comments, suggestions, out-and-out critisicm?? Has anybody tried
this before?? I looked at the long Micro and notice that there is a
tabernacle arrangement, however it appears that this tabernacle
merely helps you to lower it all the way down..
