Micro Update - Applecross

Yesterday I went out on the River Deben and with light variable winds I
found myself sailing with the last section of the junk sail reefed. If
the sail is made as designed this is the same amount of sail as the
original sail. Sailing close hauled I had the pleasant experience of
sailing across an open area of the river in a slight zig zag tack as
the two sails balanced each other.

This was more than I hoped for when I decided to change the rig. I
thought I might find this wonderful feature lost for ever. The Cat-
Yawl rig is very fogiving especially on such a forgiving hull as the
Micro. For those interested there are some photos in Bolger5 that show
the sail - they were taken from the boat so not too easy to gauge the
overall view. I hope to go sailing with another boat soon so they can
get some pictures.
