Based on my rust removal experience, including (very short)
employment
fixing up an old tugboat and a fire escape project, "all" hardly
seems
like the right word. However, it sounds like it was worth it. Would
you like to work on the right rear door sill of my car?
Thanks for the tip on the trailer. Never thought of a wrecked travel
trailer for boat use.

This email group has been an overwhelming source of info.

I purchased my trailer for about US$60.
The trailer is braked, single axle, made of steel and comes complete with
springs and shocks....It even has legs on all four corners which can be wound
down to lift the trailer off the ground!!
What I did was trawled local junkyards for old "caravans".. Over in England
there is quite a tradition of towable mobile homes which hitch to the family
car. Typically between 12' up to near 20'. I found one of the required length
with a sound chassis bought it and went home. It had already been stripped of
its aluminium body, so it looked like a road accident at this stage.
I stripped off the plywood floor (which will be cut into mast clamps and lead
molding) and found lots of styrofoam sheets!! I will find a use for that as
well!!
All that was left was to strip all old paint & rust on it, paint on "De-rust"
and an anti rust primer and enamel paint...
While stripping it down I found a trailer plate giving its rated capacity
(nearly twice what I need!!)
I will add bunks when my keel is finished...
Bargain!!
