Re: Towing Ideas
Someone just posted their tongue extension system at:

More like a telescoping tongue extension.
good ideas,
Paul

Hi Group,
I have taken the liberty of creating a folder in the Files section
of Bolger5 entitled "Towing Ideas".
In that file I put a few photos of the winch extension system I use
to launch a boat without having to get the tow vehicle tires near
the water. I invite others to add any ideas that they may have.
The winch coupler tube shown is longer than required so the back
doors of the van could swing past. You only need enough clearance to
rotate the winch handle.
I first designed this to raise and lower 100 ft wind towers using a
gin pole during a windpower study I worked on ten years ago. It
worked so well that I tried with my small boat and when I sold the
boat the buyer was I think, more interested in the winch, than the
boat. So I had to make another one for Lestat.
Lestat tows easily behind the 6.25 TD Chevy work van which is
massive overkill and I could easily tow it with my TransSport mini
van, but the cost per mile is not that different and there is a lot
more room in the full-sized van. It very seldom drops out of
overdrive when towing.
