Re: Marina Cruiser was [bolger] Dolly T and Merlin(?)
Yes ,
My father saw Bolger's article in Wooden Boat magazine which featured the "Marina Cruiser" as well as "Micro", Red Zinger Etc. in a cruising scenario Essay that Bolger wrote.
Dad liked the look and layout of the "Marina Cruiser" and wrote to Phil Bolger asking about the plans. A couple of weeks later, to dad's great surprise the complete plans arrived so he put his Bolger designed Chebacco up for sale and started building!
She's a fine boat, though not particularly fast about 6.5- 6.75 Knots maximum!
I think she probably sails equally fast though she's not fast to tack due to the very nature of the dipping lug rig.
If you look through all the Bolger groups (1-5) you'll find all the pictures I've currently got of "Merlin" posted in the photos and files sections.
The design is not called "Marina Cruiser" anymore Bolger has re-named it "Merlin". As far as I know she has no sister ships from what Bolger told me last time I spoke to him.

I always had been intrigued by Marina Cruiser - kind of like a good looking Carver. I was under the impression from PB's narrative that Marina Cruiser wasn't meant to be built so I'm a bit surprised to hear of Merlin.
I'd love to hear your description on her characteristics (both on the water and in building) and some detail photos.
Oh - Don't know what happened with the duplicate response to your post. I assumed it got lost and I resent the one that was actually the first to post.
Cheers!

Hey,
Thanks!
The Motor Cruiser is "Merlin" or what she was once known as "Marina Cruiser" in Bolger's Book "Boats with an Open Mind"(BWAOM) as they abbreviate it on this group!
