bad day of building, made good. Use the "Moaning Chair".
I finally fixed my first major mistake on "Firefly". That side
panel that had a nasty 2.5 inch bend set in the butt straps got
straightened out.
I took the Makita power plane, and removed one half of the butt
straps completely, the copper clench nails from Strawberry Banke in
New Hampshire cut like butter! I was then able to attach a new butt
strap over the one half of the existing butt strap, and then hold the
whole thing together with a clamped straight edge. I figure that the
power plane paid for itself in $ worth of marine ply saved.
It took me at least 3 weeks to think of a solution to this. A
few days rest can often lead to great moments of inspiration. I am
posting this for all builders who may be frustrated by something
stupid that they did, in the hopes that they too may discover that
all
is not lost.
