black skimmer

Anyone ever built one or know where there are pictures posted of the
construction?
Thanks, Les
Speaking of Black Skimmers, George Loos of the Cape May Chapter of
Traditional Small Craft Association tells me there is a new black
skimmer almost ready to go in the Cape May area. I have never seen
one "in person", but I remember seeing a picture of one in slings and
it really looked good.
As a note of interest, I went to Chestertown,MD yesterday and had a
look at the replica colonial schooner "SULTANA" under construction
there. What a great job they are doing!!

Each time I drive down to Deltaville, Va. I see Black Skimmer number
one sitting on a trailer on the hard. I inquired about the boat a
couple of years ago. Found the last owner. He told me the boat had
been sold to the Bolger museum, being famous as the prototype of
Bolger's most successful design. Well, why's it still sitting here
then? So, if anybody out there in Bolger land is interested in giving
her a home or a new suit of clothes... I have no interest in the boat
and at this point I do not know her status. But if there is a Black
Skimmer fan out there, I will be glad to make new inquiries.

What shape? Looks pretty good, just dull with neglect, leaves in the
well, that sort of thing. Never been touched by the wand of West
System, but her plywood was doubtless the best & looks today mostly
sound. I think she could go sailing. All the equipment seems to be in
order. Anybody give it a shot?
