You are right that it focuses on plank over frame methods. There is
a stitch and glue chapter in "Boatbuilding With Plywood". S&G is not
so different from other methods when it comes to details of how the
wood is finally joined into the final hull. S&G is more about how
the plywood is gotten into the initial hull shape before doing the
joining of the panels.

Especially when one considers the help in constructing every aspect
of the hull, including cabin, and joinery, this is a really useful
book. I think I've spent $60 very well in the construction of my
simple S&G cruiser/runabout, by buying these 2 books.

Next I'll pursue Chappell's (sp) book.
I am glad you liked them. I have had so many textbooks where the
author(s) could have taken a lesson from Hankinson on organization and
writing clarity.

Boatbuilding With Plywood is about traditional planking over frame, I
think its a lot faster than stitch and glue if you have a reasonably
complete shop.

I've already received the books I ordered. Despite the prices, I
expected softcover but hoped for very good content like Payson's
Building the new Instant Boats.

What I received were nice hardcover books, with excellent paper and
print quality. The print is large with out being silly large, and
there are many excellent quality photos, tables, etc. I've not read
enough to determine how much "Inboard Motor Installations" will
influence BoneFish, but it will help.

I also bought "Boatbuilding with Plywood" Again superior hardcover
paper and print quality. This is also an excellent reference with 27
chapters each focused very tightly on important subjects. Some seem
a little over the top, IE, "Turning your boat over". But there are
separate chapters that deal with how to build light weight cabins and
hull strengthening joinery.

These books constitute an excellent investment for any building boats
with the characteristics they cover.
