Re: [bolger] Re: HULLS program for Mac's?
The only Mac native design programs I know are
The comprehensive but rather expensive MaxSurf
http://www.formsys.com/
Or,the free but not very useful
http://ants.dif.um.es/~humberto/sdn/
A work in progress that I don't think ever got finished and not os X.
Installing an emulator is not very difficult. You do need windos, but perhaps a
friend has a zero economic value older version for you.

Not sure I want to go to the expense and bother of a emulator. On top
of the emulator I'd need to get a copy of windoze too. I guess it
depends on how bad I want HULLS.

Still in very active development. Development of panels (like Hulls
does) will be next. I guess in one or two weeks.
Right now you can import your .hul files, create new ones, edit them
(much like in Hulls), do hydrostatics calculations, view your boat in
several views, ...
Cheers,
Stefan

I don't complaint. I got it for free, and in the absence of anything
better (for this price), it served the purpose, after all.
Anyway. If you work with hulls, you will still be able to import your
.hul files into FREE!Ship once you decide later to switch.

On my PC, it runs only for a limited time after restart. Then it quits
and won't start anymore. The file open and/or save dialog has a number
of bugs. Often, I have to do things twice, that they really work.

Hull is still the best for good results fast. To run in a window on your Macintosh
only takes an emulator.
I've got the now discontinued Insignia RealPC to run (gasp) windows '95, which is all
that Hulls will need.
For system X with later wins, GuestPC is a good alternative to Microsoft.
http://www.lismoresystems.com/
or the free Bochs.

Does anybody know if there is a program like hulls that I can use on
my Mac?
