RE: Keelboat --WOW
WOW indeed, Phil. That sighting deserves a gold star on the "life list"
inside the front cover of your Peterson's Field Guide to Bolger Boats. Ok,
so the book doesn't exist, but it should. I do hope you are able to find out
more about the Keelboat. I especially hope it shows up at the messabout. I
wish we could be there too. At the moment we are in our usual prep/panic
mode in preparation for the Mahone Bay Wooden Boat Festival (July 27-31).
I'm desperately trying to finish my Auray punt to tow behind the Micro. Wish
you could be here to blow the Wind Sprints out of the water again, Phil. Is
Shoe String the modified JB or have you built a new one? All the best for
the Arkansas messabout.

I was down at Lake Dardanelle (Arkansas River) and there sitting on
the side of the road on a double axle trailer was Bolger's Keelboat
(See Boats with an Open Mind) all 39'8" of her! The owner was no
where to be seen, so I stuck a note on the windshield inviting the
owner to the messabout I am hosting. If anyone knows who the owner
is please let me know. I had to go sail my Bolger June Bug while
the wind was still up.
Don't forget, the Arkansas Messabout is only 5 weeks away. It seems
that we will have some local racing canoeist boating with us.
Saturday is play day at the lake and we will have some fun. Saturday
evening is potluck in the pavilion. I will be grilling up a heap of
Arkansas chickens -- they will not be allowed protest.
I found a couple of sales of some "special" items that will be hatch
(door) prizes - like some of John Leathers "Gaff Rig" books that
were on clearance sale up in Chicago last winter, hidden in the back
of a book store!
Please let me know your plans, and all of us are interested in the
boat(s) that you will bring. I hope that keelboat will be with us
My family will have our modified June bug and Mill Creek 13 which we
launched in April.

The state park here is very nice with visitor center/museum and
camping facilities for tents to RVs, ramps, shower, and marina.
Access highways are very good from Hwy 7 (north/south route) or
Interstate 40 (east/west).
There is a fine sandy beach that is 50 paces from the pavilion. Boats
may pull up on the beach at any time and overnight on the beach
I have the pavilion rented from noon Friday Aug 26 through noon
Sunday Aug 28
