Re: [bolger] Re: anything similar to an Eun Mara?
Peter makes some good suggestions. Stu Fyfe's REDWING is exceptionally
lovely. I doubt she'd be less involved to build than ENM, though. The best
suggestion from Bolger is probably Chebacco, though.
I'd also suggest a look at John Welsford's catalog for other good ideas in
the same size range with much less fussy construction details.

| I'm not sure what the essential attracts of Eun Mara are for you, nor
| am I very good on estimating building time. But there are several PCB
| boats to consider, including Quickstep.
|
| Blueberry: v-bottm, gaff sloop. About the same size; similar
| traditional looks. A whole book available.
|
| Triple keel sloop. A strip built gaff sloop with a lot less detail
| than Eun Mara. Pictures of the very pretty original are around
| somewhere. Owner's name is Stu Fyfe, and he posts on the Woodenboat
| forums.
|
| Among PCB's earlier designs are two Friendship sloops (Master Hand,
| Monhegan. Also a very pretty, heavy, and commodious design called
| Prancing Pony. And a 5m Itchen Cutter. I don't they are going to save
| you time over Eun Mara, however.
|
| If you are willing to have an open boat, there are some others. The
| 20' keel whaler sloop in 30-Odd boats for example. One of the Van
| Dine Tancook whalers is at a local marina here, and she seems a very
| interesting alternate to, say, Rozinante, to me.
|
| What do you need for cockpit and interior?

Similar dimensions are to be found in Bolger's Chebacco.
Having seen an Eun Mara "in the flesh", it seems to me to be immensely complicated for a boat of its modest size. A nightmare of lines and rigging in my opinion, though gorgeous to behold once the cat's cradle is sorted out.

Having seen an Eun Mara "in the flesh", it seems to me to be immensely complicated for a boat of its modest size. A nightmare of lines and rigging in my opinion, though gorgeous to behold once the cat's cradle is sorted out.

Subject: [bolger] anything similar to an Eun Mara?
I just discovered Iain Oughtred's "Eun Mara". It looks like a 1500
hour build, which leaves me no chance of ever completing one. Does
Bolger have anything similar?
