Oops, you missed my joke, no apology needed.

Yes, the Topaz doesn't [actually shouldn't] go 60 mph.

And yes, the schwoopy lines [and paint job] should
make the boat look fast and cool, while underneath
you have a functional boat.

Funny how a curvy thing, with the right paint
job can look like it is going fast, while sitting still.

Hi Bruce, I didn't at all mean to imply what you're considering is redneck. As I recall, when you posted your reasons for picking this Bolger design, it had to meet the teenage "cool" critera, but you didn't want the same type of high-powered, over-testosteroned speed boat that others on the lake are piloting. What I meant is that with your proposed paint schedule, you'll keep those guys ( the rednecks) at bay through visual intimidation.
Here in Tennessee, on the many beautiful lakes and rivers, I am always amazed at the people who feel as though they have to travel at 60 mph or more across the water to have fun. Those of us on sailboats, windsurfers, canoes, and kayaks are always vastly outnumbered by LOUD V-8 powered speedsters (some of which run close to 100 mph), so called "Bass boats" with 150 horse-powered engines (do they really have to go 60-70 mph to get to that favorite fishing hole?), and of course the dreaded PWC. Some of my friends have these type of vessels, and are resposible operators, though they seem to be a minority within the power boat world. A large number of skippers with these boats operate these craft with total disregard for anyone else. This selfish, irresponsible, boorish, and unsafe behavior on the water causes me to lump them together under the "redneck" label. Perhaps "idiot" would be more accurate.
It is my impression that members of this group share a common appreciation for boating at a little slower pace, and are probably more educated about and experienced at piloting than the high-powered "rednecks". I've also no doubt that the members of this group are some of the most thoughtful and considerate skippers one could meet on the water.
I think your choosing the Topaz design is wonderful. Such an elegant solution to your boating needs, which perhaps is the magic of Mr Bolger. I was not very familiar with Topaz, until you posted your plans to build one, and now it's on my "next boat" list! I can't wait to see your progress in the future. To my mind it's the opposite of a "redneck" boat.
Sorry for the ramble, but I wanted to make sure you understood I wasn't labeling your paint plans as "redneck". It was meant to describe the irresponsible and selfish behavior of some boaters.
I apologize for any misunderstanding or offense I might have caused to you or others with my poor comunication skills.
Sincerely, David Lipsey

Actually, I am leaning towards a orange/yellow bow section,
fading to orange/yellow/read flames
with a glossy black on the stern portion. Kind of like this...

Of course, the forward and after decks and interior floor would
be wood faux-planking, finished bright, and the bulkheads,
and the interior topsides would be glossy white.

I don't know why airbrush flame decoration is "red neck",
but what do I know?

That is a fact that my teenage girls will like.
I don't know about redneck, but every teenage boy who goes through the
"I want a muscle car " phase will always pick this combo as his first
choice in paint jobs.

Perhaps Bruce is a closet red-neck speedster. I know I am ;-]
