Re: BOLGER, Latest (11-09-05) Pictures of our "Bunny R" 28' Bolger Lobsterboat

To quote from the Group's frontpage:

"Chickennugget is a Bolger based Motor boat inspired by the non-
traditional drawings of Phil Bolger. Based on the Otter II sailing
Sharpie, Chicken Nugget is being build now during the late
summer/fall of 2002 and winter/spring of 2003. Chicken Nugget is
designed to be a Coastal-inland cruiser for 4 people being powered
by a 10hp Westerbeke Diesel engine or electric/solar power. CN is
being built as a "proof of concept" for the much larger MVRosemary.

The Group has 16 members and little or no traffic.

I may be member number 17.

Looks like a dream that never got much past the web site announcing it.

They also put up another site as "Patchotogue Poormans Yacht Company".
Nothing going on there either.

Hint: when selling "yachts", it's probably better not to target people who
consider themselves poor. Yachts are a lot easier to sell to people who can
afford them!

Hi ,Howard,

I will keep the pictures coming (..of the progress of the 28' Bolger Lobsterboat ), but I've got a kind of a feeling that the file space on Bolger5 will soon all be used up...its around about 94% at the moment,...there might have to be a new group....Bolger6 !!??

A point to remember (Everyone downloading picturew to the files section.)- try to re-size all pictures to about 100mb this will help to add life to the group!!!....400-700+ mb pictures take up a lot of room, especially if they're poor quality!.

My Digital Camera downloads about a @ 700mb picture, so I always, now open them in "paint" and re-size them to 45% which gives on average an 80 - 120 kb picture that will always fill the screen on your average computer!!!

Thank,you, Roger,

This boat, while quite traditional in construction will have her fair share of epoxy fumes!!~!, She'll be strip planked and epoxy-saturated!......Hopefully she will last about one hundred years or so....when I'm gone!!

P.S. Yes, wood dust probably is better than rust dust and I know for a fact better than the concrete dust I have to endure every day at work!..

My first boat was Bolger "Teal" dinghy, that my father built for me
about 27 years ago.

He has been building Bolger Boats ever since, and I must say he is a very skilled boat builder now.....(He is 66 years of age now) and the "Bunny R" Lobsterboat will,..most likely be his last "big" project,
...Though he would really love to build a Bolger designed "Poor Boy" 23, Fantail-Stern 23, x 6, x 1, 10" launch. His 67th birthday is soon approaching.. and guess what? I've ordered the plans from "Wooden Boat" for this clasic launch...... he can't retire till he's about 70 now!!!!

..Excuse my digression, I love plywood-epoxy boats and a "Black Skimmer" is certainly on my future building list, she's one of those un-ussuming but fantastic craft that should be built more...offf!!!??..

...Though Dad says he'd build her with an offsett centreboard ( like "Birdwatcher").. but you'd lose a bit of the shallow-draft sailing capabilities Lee Boards provide.!

Hi, everyone,

Just been down to Port Sorell today and taken a few pictures of todays
progress on our Lobsterboat. Only the last mold(nearest to transom) to
be fitted then a bit of machine shop work to thickness and cut up the
planking then some slow (Strip-plank) progress can be made!

The pictures are in the files section of Bolger5 in the folder "Tyson's Lobsterboat pictures" newest ones are dated 10-09-2005 starting with the title Aaab.......etc.

They must be very boring as no one seems to have responded to my latest few postings or are we really only concerned with plywood boats in these groups!!!???
