Good idea! I will make a few pics from the mast in the cabin and
tinker about it in front of my laptop..

Hi Bjorn!

Perhaps you could view the problem from the bottom up.That
is,consider it a given that rain water will run down the mast into
the cabin.Focus on creating an effective capture device for this
rain water leakage( a donut shaped ring around mast step,a small
gutter around mast step etc....)and have this draining into either a
dedicated tank for later disposal or to top up non-potable water
tanks for dishwashing etc..Fortunately,you do not have to deal with
this problem for too long, unless melting ice and snow invite
themselves inside the boat too :-)
Glad to hear that ESMERALDA sails again but do tell us how your
repair work on the leeboards went and if you have"improved" or
strengthened the installation of these boards.
Tobias is growing into the lady-killer of a man I thought he
would become :-D

Sincerely,

Peter Lenihan, forever jealous of all you buggers with boats in the
water even though it is only a matter of time before Bjorn will be
waxing skis and one day Windermere will be launched........

No. The mast "goes" through the hatch and the opening cannot be sealed
permanently.

Have you tried Spartite?

Weather strip on each "side face" of the hatches. Not a single drop
has entered the cabin since launch date 09/03/2002. The problem is the
main mast. It is (too me that is) impossible to seal the opening. I
have tried to apply a sort of apron which will be improved when I get
some time off. I have uploaded two pics to visualize the strips and
the apron.

Nice pictures & great boat. Your cabin hatches appear to fold in the
middle. How did you do that are are they watertight?

Thanks
