I have data convincingly disconfirming the Duhem-Quine hypothesis.

removal of all duties (under most circumstances).
In short, no duties. Really, no doody.

How much of the price difference in US and Canada is duties?
Or does the US require some modification of the motor that runs
the price up?
I have spent some time in Canada and there are some good deals
up there but not usually this big a difference.

Hi Brad,
I am not offended in the least. I was posting as a matter of information to
the group. I am located at the north end of Whidbey Island (about 60 miles
NW of Seattle as the crow flies) in the Puget Sound and San Juan Island
region. Because of my local clientele and the fact that most of our Hondas
are sold with boat/motor/trailer packages I am not overly affected by the
border issues, especially not in your area! :) Honda (at least American
Honda Motor Corp) also strictly forbids shipping a Honda to an end user so
we Honda dealers tend to work only in our local area. There are savings to
be had by going to Canada, I just wanted folks to know that there is a price
for that savings as well.

In reply to Les Lampman---You brought up some good points and this could
really effect some peoples decision to buy in Canada and should. As I
stated, they must accompany us to the border , or send papers to customs to
assure compliance with EPA. I would warrant a guess that two stroke motors
would not meet new requirements. Us cruisers often buy in the Bahamas and
I know they don't comply so they are never declared, speaking of others of
course. Back to warrantee. My wife mentioned that she checked this out
and you are correct, there is no warrantee on these motors in the states.
This should be a concern for those further from the border. In our case,
we are close and the warrantee extended in Canada is good so long as we
bring the motor to them in Canada. We cruise the North Channel and so pass
by the Marina in Ques. in going there, No problem. By the way, in my
experience, a well maintained Honda unless really abused will go way beyond
the warrantee. I run my large catamaran with one and have a l5 on my
dingy. Prior to this I had a 15 on a tri I built and went for three years
all over fl. and the Bahamas and it still ran like new when sold.
Sorry to have offended you, that was not my intent. I am just one to try
and extend a limited income in any way I can. I am also aware that a fine
support group such as your sales and service must be, would be invaluable,
to a potential buyer.
In my case, I am $3000 below local prices and will take a chance on buying
there. Perhaps on a smaller motor, I would re-consider. Brad
