Hi Hugo,
Geezus, you folks must be looking forward to the end of another
tough winter down there......the greenery is clearly in much need of
some sun and warmth :-) I can't wait until summer gets to you so that
you can peel back the sides of the shed for a good and proper view of
the craftsmanship.........and how about a photo of the craftman
himself, your long sufferin' dad who's back is surely and slowly going
to ruin by building all these fine boats !

Thanks for the update and regards to your Dad!

Sincerely,

Peter Lenihan, warming up the the thought of yet another arctic winter
season descending upon us Canuks....soon enough....what a grand excuse
for Port,cheeses and breads!
Hi everyone,

I've just been down to my parent's place this weekend and have taken
some photos of the latest progress on our 28' x 10' "Bunny R" Bolger
designed Lobsterboat.

Dad has had 1/2 of the planking machined-up, 7/8" x 1" strips. It took
him and the joiner 5.5 hours to do it!

The garboard plank has been fitted and glued and screwed on. By the
time you read this maybe another 2 planks per side will be in place!

It is going to be a slow process, around about 6 months + /- a couple
of weeks to fully plank the hull!

We've ordered and paid for a new Yanmar 55HP 4cyl. 2.2 Litre Diesel,
(50HP Continous output at 2900 rpm and gearbox(2.61:1) + Shaft tube,
all the bearings and shaft seals and a 19" 3 blade propeller to suit
both engine and hull. We expect them to arrive in a week or so!

Its lucky that my brother and I are paying for this as there
will/should be no hold-ups in the construction procees due to
finnancial concerns.

I bought Dad the plans for Bolger's 23' Fantail launch from the Wooden
boat Shop for his birthday as well as a few interesting and nice books.

He really wants to build this boat too! Maybe it'll speed up the
construction of the Lobsterboat so he can get stuck into this design
which he really,really ,likes!.

I haven't heard back from Bolger as yet to the progress on "Silver
Blaze" the 26' "Torpedo Stern" runabout (based apon the "Snow Leopard"
design in BWAOM), but realistically even if he produced the plans
tomorrow we probably wouldn't be able to start construction for a
couple of years or so! Anyway, fuel prices are steadily climbing!

The photos are posted in the Folder: Tyson's "Lobsterboat Pictures",
Latest ones starting at : aaaaa-first plank.., dated
