Re: [bolger] boats on the cover

That boat is a 21'4" x7' 0" round-bottom cold molded or strip planked "Maine" type Lobster skiff called "Sometime or Never".With a 50 HP Outboard she apparently does an easy 30 Mph.Bolger states in a woodenboat article that given 100+ HP she could do 60 mph!,also with a 25HP she'd do about 23 Mph.(4 stroke outboards of course) She could be built clinker ply if desired.

The design is a stretched version of Bolger's own boat "Shivaree" (16' x 7').
Bolger's 16 footer is powered by a hi-thrust Yamaha 4 stroke 50 HP and he has high regards for this engine as he specifies it and its smaller cousins on many of his most recent designs.

A friend of my father has built the 16' Shivaree in Clinker ply and she is much admired wherever he takes her. He uses her a lot for fishing and she is quite seaworthy!. Bolger also has an intermeadiate length "Shivaree 18" (18'!) which would be a good compromise length. I think at least one 18 footer has been built in far north Australia using the clinker ply method, and is used for island hopping between remote communities on the tropical islands up there.

Hello everyone,

like a launch or a skiff. I think it would make the perfect fishing
boat.
