Not required, they hold their shape pretty good without internal frames.
There is something about the 3D curvature that gives it rigidity,
a 'shell effect' or 'arch effect'.
The exception is that I do add an internal frame when there is a
natural delimitation, like the step in the deck elevation at the face
of the cabin or cuddy bulkhead, etc.

Bruce,

Your paper models look great. Do you put any internal structure to
hold the shape? I have tried a similar approach with simple hull
shapes, but the card stock seems to flimsy to get a good bends in a
more complex shape.

And me to now, I tried 3-4 times over a 40 min period before I sent the
email.

I just start with stack of paper cutouts shaped like this:

http://community.webshots.com/photo/360984211/360984211SnIwsx

...and tape them together with cellophane tape.

The shape of the cutouts is calculated using hulls.exe
and printed directly on manila cardboard using a
laser printer ready for the scissors.

Total time start to finish; about 90 minutes for Wenda#532.

The first time is hard, but with practice it gets much easier.

Now this one I *really* want full size!

It would fulfill my lusting over a Herreshoff _Rozinante_ [better than
a Burgundy], and [ignoring Bolger's words about vandalizing a
masterpiece], here with the wood available in California, I think this
shaped could be achieved with plywood frames and plywood lapstrake.
About the same scale and skill set as a lapstrake Chebacco project.

If someone had, you would think there might
be a photograph floating around. I have never
seen that photograph.

The reasons I think Wenda is better than
Burgundy, is that Wenda has:
1) elegant curves 2) shoal draft.
Has anyone ever built Burgundy?
