Chimera

I have created a folder "Chimera" here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger_study_plans_only/

I think this is an interesting design. It was drawn in 1985 and
never built I guess, but shows some of the percursers to present
designs and some that have ideas that hhave been dropped or have
evolved over time.

For example:

It has the same cockpit design as the Micros. The same shallow keel
and a rudder with an end-plate and his favorite cat-yawl rig. Has
very much similarity as well to the 25 foot Chebacco.

However the rudder area seems tiny and the mast hugh at 37 feet on a
25 foot boat. Which in turn requires 1850 lb of ballast. Not exactly
a trailer-sailer. It is cold-molded and Bolger states he would now
go for glass over strip planking. It has a huge centerboard, tiny
cuddy, large cockpit area and a suggests a 2 Hp 2-stroke motor.
Bolger says he would now consider a 9.9 4-stroke.

Beautiful lines, yet not as practical as his newer designs.
