If you haven't recently looked at John Kohnen's 2001 photos of fellow
Californian Bennett Scheurer's Martha Jane, _Steadfast_, they are
worth another look.

And a another photo of _Steadfast_ from MAIB 1999 of a messabout in

I, too, am interested in Martha Jane. I was just looking at the
upgraded version of this boat, and am amazed at how nice it would be.

I don't know if the interest in the Martha Janes has
died down. I've got one. I can't wait to make the
modifications but I'll have to because I don't have a
place to work on it during the winter, yet.

The modifications aren't really much more complex but
the modified boat is much, much, much improved.

Yes, he has. There was a PCB article in MAIB about a man who built one
and took it down the Mississippi with his daughter. That was a two
berth version, with the high cockpit lowered to make a better sailboat
at the cost of two sleeping spots.

I would be interested to hear from experienced builders how the
Jochems Schooner compares to Jesse Cooper in terms of building project.

At one time, PCB would have offered Martha Jane. That design has been
upgraded and complicated to be safer in a knockdown, and interest in
it has seemed to fade. Now, PCB is more interested in pushing
Birdwatcher, esp BWII, which might be worth a look.

Chuck, the Duckman, Lienweber build a Mickalak Caprice which falls in
the size range you are interested in. He has cruised it a fair amount.
Among the opinions that he will share is that it should have a couple
of inches more headroom.

I was looking through "30 Odd Designs" and became interested in
this plan. I'm looking for something between a Long Micro and a Jesse
Cooper. Bolger didn't have much to say about the design in the book.
I wondered if he had ever refined the design.
