Re: oldshoe is it a suitable first boat building effort

I think that Oldshoe is a very good first project. I have been
buiding one since February, - hopefully I'll launch next month. I
would be finished except for distractions such as work and family.
It was easier than the two prior boat building projects I did, a
cedar strip canoe and a glued lapstrake canoe.

I did not keep count of plywood panels. I am adding a small cuddy to
the boat and have not been as efficient in laying out the cuts. In
the plans, Mr. Bolger includes a very efficient layout with very
little scrap. I think the plans list 7 or 8 panels.

I encourage you to join Warren's group of Oldshoe builders if you
decide to build one.

Oldshoe is it a suitable first boat building effort, I have plenty of
experience with epoxy and boats in general but have never built one
from scratch, also any idea how many sheets of ply it takes to
build.Any other info ?

Thanks
