skipper himself is one of the wingnuts, Trashcat may
be too small. Might want to build a Bantam instead;
she can cruise a wingnut, a buffoon, a dunder-head and
two small wackos, plus with the cabin, they can all
get in out of the weather, if they have sense enough. Sam

This is the low power version based on St. Jan and has several
additions to it for gathering waterborne trash. Has a forward net
scoop between the hulls, and "A" frame device on a winch to raise and
lower it as well as locations for trash cans.
A power version of this is called "Fishcat" and will take a 25 HP
motor. It has a fairing across the front and one has been built with a
fully enclosed house, by Herb Tayor I believe? It was at the Kingston
messabout a couple of years ago.

Hard to believe that it was built at the Montgomery yard using luan
underlayment. At one time I had purchased 12 or so sheets of that
stuff, when I was planning to build a Micro. Paid $5 a sheet at
Menards down south of the line in Bismark ND. The stuff looked quite
impressive on the outside, but I really looked at whatever that
stuff was inside the nice clear mahogany outer layers, and felt a
bit chagrined.
Somewhere along the line somebody broke into my storage shed and
stole it! Now I see they did me favor!
Peter mentions that the design appeared to resemble two miniature
Sneakeasy hulls joined together along with a neat folding helm seat
and a parasol for protection from the sun and a really elegant helm
arrangement. Very easily driven.

Hi Nels, Peter, Trimaran and all
Well, the oyster leases are no longer in use and will be taken out by
the Maritime NSW Authority, eventually. No, not pollution, there is
no pollution here at all. We go swimming off the house every day and
the water is very clean and clear. Actually, the whole area has

Ferry service between Sydney & Wellington?? Well, maybe between
ASydney and Northern Tasmania (Devonport) Wellington is a bit of a
hike, I should think!
Try this link to see the estuaries of NSW Good site this and I have
nicked a pic from it which was taken from (basically) just above our
place at Pindimar looking east and south towards the Tasman Sea. The
road basically in the centre bottom of the picture is our road and
the house we have is the last house on the left of the that road on
the water.
By the way, regarding long shaft outboards on a Micro, we have a long
shaft and it is too long and still drags in the water when it can be
lifted up. The motor the boat came with is a Yamaha 4 stroke 4 HP
asnd it can't be tilted up, as there's not enough clearance on the
transom. We have a Seagull Silver Century that will tilt up but
drags in the water - I will take some pics of this and post them when
we get back to Sydney.
Have a look Pindimarmicro file on Bolger 6 for the aerial pic of Port
Stephens that I mention

Nels, that photo was heartbeaker for me. The photo
was of the St. Jan, built for Jim Pope, who graciously
gave her to me once delamination started in some of
the hull. I did some minor repairs and got a fun
season out of her, but she was built, in part, of
underlaymeant, and the punky middle layer has gone
soft all over the boat where luan was used. She is
sitting at my landing as I write, one hull flooded,
waiting decent weather and a chain-saw to end her
misery. You could eat her decks with a spoon. She
was a fun boat, and beautifully set up by Mr. Pope.
R.I.P.

I don't know about that, but I do know that when I lived alone I got my
boats built a whole lot faster than I am able to now that I'm married! Did a
nicer job too... Two sides to every coin I guess...
In the one SPAM the guy was saying 'I'm 25 already and I thought it was all
over' - and the first thing I thought was "that guy needs a hobby!"

I managed to get Spam this morning from ALL the Bolger
groups to which I belong, as well as the other couple
of boating groups I am a member of, all touting
lonely-hearts dating services. I find these and all
the other spam e-mails I get absolutely uncanny. Yes,
I AM an underpaid, bald, overweight, hideously lonely

underdeveloped manhood, but what I don't understand is

But then there are the ones of us who live in caves and under

that is why I didn't get any spam. I live below even their radar:-(
Willing to share? None of the manhood enhancements ones though. They
simply do not work!

Very neat design. I wonder is their any precedent to this type of
boat? A floating garbage collection device? Also could work for
collecting stray party animals who fall off houseboats.

I can see the challenges to launching from a trailer at Pindimar. I
suppose you are not allowed to tie up to one of those posts in the
background? Or anchor a float and then go back and forth with your
new dink once it is finished?
Looks like a great area for messing about. I pulled up Mapquest and
typed in Newcastle and found Pindimar in the upper right corner here:
http://tinyurl.com/0
Then clicking on Pindimar brought a close-up view. Not far from
Monkey Jacket I see;-) Lots of small towns around there with
charming names like Toronto and Wangi Wangi. (Which would have been
the perfect name for Toronto, Canada:-)
Too bad about the oysters. Did it become polluted, or just not
viable financially. Can you harvest your own?
And there is a ferry service between Sydney and Wellington? Wow!
Lots of dream fodder!
Cheers, Nels

Ok Peter, I will transfer those pics to the file section but they are
the only pics I have up here on this computer and will need to access
the computer at our Sydney house when we go back on 25th Jan to
upload some more from the camera - I'm virtually a computer luddite,
actually.
I know the Dutch Micro pic is a bit big but I will send it to a guy
at work and see if he can make it a bit more acceptable. That
trailer does look interesting, though.

I tooks Nels's advice and placed a picture of our Micro, Matilda Jean,
on the beach in front of our place at Pindimar. Oh! in Bolger 6, I
mean! Pindimar is a small settlement on the northern shore of Port
Stephens, which is on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales,
Australia. (around 3 hours north of Sydney)
The hills that you see in the background are actually the northern and
southern headlands at the entrance to Port Stephens. If you've never
heard of Pindimar I wouldn't be at all surprised;very small place with
just houses and farms, no shops. Nelson Bay, on the southern shore, is
the major tourist spot and Matilda Jean took 40 minutes to get there
the other day.
I meant to put more than one pic. up but I'm not too good at this sort
of thing!
