The Windsprint is pretty heavily canvassed. When I sail alone I usually
reef it unless the wind is very light. OTOH, all that sail is wonderful
for ghosting along when the wind is light. If you have too much sail up,
the margin between a stalled sail and upside down is about 3 seconds of
inattention. If anyone has archives of the old Bolger list, there is an
account of my first capsize in the boat (before I installed fotation).
It's a great boat, nonetheless. If you have any deisre to camp, having
the wide-open bottom (the dagerboard case is off to the side) makes a
perfect place to roll out a sleeping bag. I have a 1-person backpacking
tent that just fits inside the boat (to keep away the North Carolina
mosquitos), and I love sailing up into a marsh in one of the sounds to
spend the night.
The boat is pretty, too. On the ferry ride over to Ocracoke Island there
are always a bunch of people wanting to talk about it.
The only thing that bothers me is that a dagger board is not the optimal
blade for the shoal waters of the North Carolina sounds -- I am always
banging into oyster beds or sand or something. A pivoting centerboard
really does make more sense in these waters. (But it would have to be
closer to the centerline, destroying the lovely berth. Always compromises!)

Hi Patrick,
a Gypsy to have a simple single-hander. Some people have said that
Windsprint is overcanvassed and needs to be reefed most of the time -
what's you take on that?
Nice job!

As far as I know, there is no established etiquette, per say,for
posting pictures however I do know that some OCD types like to see BIG
pictures with lots of detail and for this the "files" section is best.
Thanks for the pictures!!
