forward but your explanation makes good sense!
Despite the fact that the beach appeared void of any bikini clad

distant tree lined shores which framed the Diablo all conspired
perfectly to give this bum the moral boost and hope for warmer days
I was looking for...even the shit-hawks(seagulls) in the photos
looked inviting :-)
Thanks again for the neat pictures!

Hi Peter,
The floors are notched like that so the sump of the engine will sit in between them!
It might look a bit far forward(where the engine is situated) but this is to the plans. As the "Bunny R" design is an "Inshore" type lobsterboat, (Non-planing...about 11 knots absolute maximum speed) the engine is located further forward than in a planing Lobsterboat as its smaller, lighter and doesn't require as steep a shaft angle as a Semi-displacement(Planing) hull.
55HP will be ample going on calculations! Given that to drive this hull in smooth water, no wind, no tide, all that's required is about 15HP to get about 8.5 knots. So, hopefully we'll have heaps of power in reserve to buck any weather conditions and cruise economically at about 8 Knots and ocassionally do 10-11 knots when we're in a hurry!
Its probably a bit deceptive( the photos!), but the engine is located just a bit forward of the middle of the boat.
As to the timber, we'll it was just as bad on Dad's "Harbinger" 15' Catboat he built about 2 years ago, but you wouldn't know looking at the finished boat! Though no varnished finish inside though!
If you want some pictures of nice sunny weather, checkout the folder I also posted in Bolger6 of "Sabre"(Diablo) at Port Sorell. Just a couple of pictures I took last Saturday when my brother and I took her out for an hour or so!

Hugo,
Thanks for the up-date! Fairing the INSIDE of the hull must be a
real trial....GOD......I'd be sorely tempted to injure the bastard
that dressed my wood like that!
One question and one request,if I may :-) ,
Why are the tops of the floors so deeply notched along the centerline
and so far forward?
and......how about a wonderful sunny day picture showing us snowbound
nuts on the other side of the planet what green foliage looks like and
water in its' liquid state. If you want to include a boat in the back
ground, better and if there happens to be a couple of bikini clad
wenches...ahhhh.....better still :-D
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, the"Cuperinol" kid :-D dreaming of warmer days in the
months ahead and a summer time..late summer...launch of his own escape
machine..............

Hi,
I've just uploaded a few more pictures of the latest progress on our
Lobsterboat. Dad's fitted a few more floor timbers and hopefully within
the next week we'll take delivery of the engine and associated gear
such as the shaft and prop etc. We're still waiting for them(Glascow Engineering) to
machine the shaft for the couplings and propeller! I'll post a few
pictures when we take delivery
Hugo Tyson, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
The pictures are in the folder"Tyson's Bunny R Lobsterboat" in the
files section of Bolger6.The latest ones are at the top of the page.
