I did get my UHMW from Mcmaster Carr, a great resource. I thought about
the stick on kind but I was reluctant to attach it permanantly to the
hull or rather I didn't want to make a permanant attachment without a
good reason to and I don't see any problems with having it "floating".
I guess time will tell, I wouldn't want to have the plastic bend out
from water pressure. I hope to get the boat in the water soon
I have been told by a plastics supplier that you can clean and then
heat the UHMW surface with a propane torch lightly. Then the plastic
will have some ability to work with a sealant. I use the same method to
epoxy glue in PVC pipe in places like the stopper knot holes in the
leeboard.

UHMW to wood and plastic. I thing that McMaster Carr sells UHMW sheet
preprepared with adhesive, peel-off.
Jon, The UHMW is not attached other than the bolt holding the
leeboard. I am considering putting a small screw somewhere through
the plastic into solid wood just to keep it from rotating, though it
doesn't move now when moving the leeboard. As you know there isn't
any sealant that will stick well to the UHMW. I think the important
thing is to just keep it from rotating as I would rather have any
wear take place on the leeboard, not the hull.

Hi Fritz,
well executed, and I especially like the pump idea. May I ask how you
attached the UHMW to the hull?

I must second that "Awesome". Every detail of the boat including the
bilge pump, rudder, flotation, low maintenance, ruggedness, strength,
positive floatation is well thought out and executed perfectly.
