Sail lacing
What is Dutch lacing as mentioned in the Black Skimmer thread? I know
of three different methods: around, around and back, and Payson's. I
used Payson's lacing on my Oldshoe and really liked it. It requires
two light lines starting at the peak, around each side with a square
knot on the forward side, through the next grommet, etc. I used salmon
line, about 1/8 inch, sold for fishing. It is quite stiff and I think
that helps keep it from hanging up on the mast. To make it easier to
bend on next time, I tied a loop through all the lacing before sliding
it off the mast.
