Re: [bolger] honda BF2 lower unit oil issue??
My guess is "wrong side". I had a similar experience when I bought mine
and hauled it home on the wrong side. Be sure to check the oil level. Clyde

So i rigged and launched my navigator(ish) this morning and when i
fired the honda (5 years old never had any problems)it was smoking
and sputtering, which it never does. i putted out to the nearest
island beached it and took a look at the thing and oil was oozing
out of the lower unit in the upper most cooling(?) hole (1 mm
diameter)which is above the fill hole for the lower unit
oil......this thing is a long shaft if that matters to anyone who
knows these motors. Anyone ever had this issue with a honda BF2?
I'm thinking either:
1. i had it stored laying on the wrong side and oil seeped out of
the crankcase.....not sure how it's been laying to be honest.
2. fresh water froze in the thing doing something real bad to it.
3. your idea (here)
Thanks for any ideas or suggestions on what i should do.
