Re: [bolger] Re: Oldshoe
I've noticed this even in my AS-29. At the dock, with
no one aboard, she looks a little down at the bow.
Once crew is aboard and sitting in the cockpit, she
balances perfectly on her lines.

'Bolgeresque', the attention to 'human engineering' that encourages
the live ballast in the boat to hang out in the correct locations is
a signature element of Bolger's designs. Other examples of this
Bolger design value seen with Birdwatcher and Topaz Spyder.
One of the interesting things apparent in the Oldshoe photos is how
the layout encourages the passengers to get well forward in the boat
so she is well on her lines even with a large (for such a small boat)
load as four adults.
the layout encourages the passengers to get well forward in the boat
so she is well on her lines even with a large (for such a small boat)
load as four adults.
I designed this insignia for my boat. You are welcome to use it on
your Oldshoe. The original on my sail is 12 inches long. Sold to
Seattle in 2005. See it at:
