Dark colors absorb heat and white is hard on the eyes. I add a little
color to cut the glare, one that complements the exterior.

There are some new birdwatcher 2 photos of her maiden voyage in the
links section under ""birdwatcher / backyard birdwatcher"" if anyone is
interested. I am still working out some bugs with the steering and
deciding if the motor, a British seagull 40 featherweight is enough
power for her, rated at 1-2hp. The Seagull moves her nicely but hard to
turn her back into the wind while steering her with the seagull for she
is long. I need to do more steering test under motor power and using
the rudder. I was told the centerboard would help giving her a pivoting
point for turns, we will see when I get the board made. I can say she
floats in very little water. I was on foot in ankle deep and moved her
with ease. She will have more weight with a battery and 109 pound
centerboard and gear and sailing equipment. I found it's very warm
inside the cabin area but, I think this is do the dark color I painted
the floor. I took off my shoes and let me say HOT FOOT!. If I am not
mistaken painting a boat deck or in this case sun exposed floor a light
color is the first rule in boat painting. As you see I did not follow
the rule. I will be painting it white very soon. Any thoughts or ideas
would be appriciated.
