Re: [bolger] Yahoo Madness!...

The Chebacco plans include several variants. I like the lapstrake version.
There's also another set of plans for a 25' version. I suspect the "stitch
and glue" version is more often built. It kind of has chines (two strakes
on the side instead of six).

One thing that led me to the lapstrake is that the plans called for 1/2" ply
and I had a stack of 3/8". I asked PCB and he agreed that 3/8" Occume was
fine. With glued lapstake, each lap joint is like a fore and aft stringer
for stiffening.

The barn fall was troubling, but it did force me to do some organizing that
was long overdue. When we moved in in the fall of 1998, we just dropped
stuff and lots of things were still where they'd been dropped.

I see. Thanks for that. I thought I was totally losing it for a while.

BTW: I looked at your page. Very interesting. I thought chewbacco was a chine boat? - not that I've studied it at all. Otherwise, I particularly liked the model. I take a great deal of pleasure from evaluating boats by modelling them. Rather like sculptural miniatures, they are very revealing and have a charm of their own. Not surprisingly, many self-build boats are just like... models :)

That business with the barn must have been most distressing :(
