Have a look at these...

I built a nice watertight hatch for my dinghy, and I hate it! Wood is not a
stable medium. The hatch cover (with the latex paint) glues itself firmly
to the hull and requires almost criminal abuse to get it loose. For my
current project I went on e-bay and found several nice latching plastic
hatches with o-rings for fifty bucks apiece (including shipping). The
seller purportedly buys leftovers from boat production lines.

They can be seen near the bottom of

My flotation in those compartments will be blocks of Styrofoam Velcro'd in
place in the top rear.

My Bantam has reserve flotation chambers on either side of the aft
deck. I would like to use them for light storage, and rather than
leaving them open, I would like to construct hatches. I was hoping
that someone had already spent the brainpower to come up with a
suitable home-buildable design. It would be nice if they were
relatively rainproof. Anyone out in the collective been there, done that?
