Re: [bolger] Stern-o-matic
It really doesn't sound like a good idea to me.By changing the hull shape all sorts of issues will arise. For a start she'll be more difficult to build as you'll have to work out the shape of the ply panels for yourself. Trim will be affected, she'll probably float stern high, so ballast(more) will be needed to correct this, unless of course you want to always look like your going "downhill" so to speak. She'd also probably drag up a huge wake. I'm sure Bolger has a design in the size/length range more suited to your purposes. Converting a sailing hull to a power hull and expecting it to go fast and perform well is a big ask and could end up being a real lemon!
Just my thoughts on the matter.

I am wondering if the intent of your question is to create a
powerboat or sail. Several of the comments concerned sailing
characteristics once the noted modifications were made.

Martha Jane stern-o-matic
Hi flotation fans-
Take a sailing hull similar to a Martha Jane (rocker fore and aft).
Does this seem to be essentially the Sitka/Topaz type hull? Would it
tend to plane yet make a very small wake at slow speeds?
I'm just wondering if it would make a reasonable motoring hull - much
shorter than Topaz.
Thoughts???
