AS-29 Walkure
Hello
I was on vacation in Canada, at my mother's summer cottage, doing some
grocery shopping in Buckhorn on the Trent-Severn. Driving down the
road, what do I see but an AS-29 tied up above the lock! I almost
drove off the road into the canal. The AS-29 is something of a dream
boat for me but I have never actually seen one.
Needless to say I stopped to investigate. Unfortunately the boat was
locked and the owner away. However the lockmaster informed me that the
boat would be staying overnight. After dinner I returned and knocked
on the window, rousing the owner, Mike. I had previously seen his
website (http://www.walkurevoyages.blogspot.com/)but had no idea he
was in the area. Mike was gracious enough to give me a tour of the
boat, inside and out. It is as roomy, practical and indeed beautiful
as I expected, and has only reinforced my desire to someday build one.
We also talked about his adventures and living aboard the AS-29.
Unfortunately the battery was dead on my camera so I got no pictures.
Oh well, there are lots on Mike's site. Congrats to Mike for building
such a beautiful boat and having the courage to adopt such a novel
lifestyle.
