One of the Austin boat builders I talked to added a skeg to a kayak. He
ended up with one about two feet long, and about two inched deep tapering to
nothing. He first built several different skegs, and tried each one by duct
taping it on, and paddling around, until he found the one he liked.
I have just started doing the stitch and tape on the Caprice, and I have a
lot more respect for Dave Gulley's work now. If you see him, tell him I
said hi.
