Re: [bolger] email format

Harry:
Your message looked fine. The above was all on one line though, total 79
characters, the longest line in your message. "Awesome link page!" was on a line
by itself. Until I looked back at some other messages, I thought that egroups
must take whatever we send and wrap it at 80, both to display online and to send
back. But most have shorter lines.

I found by my silly test that tables will work, if all the info is on one line.
Where I tabbed over underneath to make a second line in one or the other column,
it got very messy.

None of this is a problem except for those mysterious occasions when the text
gets so fragmented that it's hard to read.

I agree that John Kohnen's work is awesome, and like Craig O'Donell's, which is
similarly an unparalleled great pleasure to enjoy, appears to be done for the
love of it only.

I have noticed similar problems. I use Netscape 4.5 to 4.7 depending on the
computer in the house that I am using. I just went to preferences and set the
wrap for outbound messages at 50 characters. If my postings are coming through
funny please inform.

I didn't realize jkohnen was part of this forum. Dude, your one of my idols.
Awesome link page!
I introduced a friend to it and it was three days later before he came up for
air.

Thanks for the replies. I actually had it off at my end but in the
egroup prefs had on. That page was interesting, even if it mostly covers
Outlook Express. Others take note I have NS47 & Macintosh and the color
graphic email works fine otherwise...

Sorry, but I can't resist a silly test (view at full width):

Definitely NOT! A good explanation of the problem, and how to fix it, can

"Necessity is the mother of invention" is a silly proverb.
"Necessity is the mother of futile dodges" is much nearer the truth.
<Alfred North Whitehead>
Ahoy!

I guess I could send some silly test messages to find this out, but then
there's no deleting them. Does anyone know if our mail programs should
be set to send HTML, or not?

Often the lines get broken differently than when composed and tabs for
simple tables that look square to me get progressively worse when
forwarded and copied.

Thanks,
