Subject: [bolger] Albin 25 for sale
I love my Bolger boats but building is getting expensive. Had a
thrilling late season cruise with Paul Mclellan last week on his
wonderful Bolger houseboat when we spotted Han van Pelt heading our
way mid chanel in his beautifully built Champlain. We all stopped in
the middle of the Rideau ( no one else out ) and had a gam. Han and
Anne were a third of the way thru a three week cruise. What a cozy
comfortable cruiser it is. The Champlain, and the Houseboat, had i b
een able to walk on water I would have stepped off and taken a
picture of the pair together. Han later told us he had about $20,000
in materials in Mudlark and that was several years ago. Not to
mention many hours of extremely skilled craftmanship. It started me
thinking. My very similar classic Albin 25 on a trailer yet, is for
sale for only $7,000.
So if any of you want a safe, trailerable ? economical, low
maintenance cruiser and you dont have a couple of years to build it
consider the Albin. If you still Must Build, I am one of you though
now i have just typed those words I see Must is the term they use
for male elephants driven mad by their sexual urges, strange
uncontrollable urges we boatbuilders feel. Anyway now im off to call
about some plywood to build my new love that Bolger houseboat like
Pauls.John( more boats than brains ) Bartlett. p.s. just visited
Steve Martin in Vero Beach, Fl to see his nice Sneakeasy, finished
for $700, he told me. That design is a lot of boat for the buck.
