Lee Valley tools sells various assortments of single use paint brushes at
resonable prices. I altogether like their service which is quick and usually
complete and their quality which is very good at a realistic prices (in
contrast with say Garret Wade which has museum quality tools at astronomical
prices)!

Also, for really cheap, use manila rope cut in ~4 inch lengths.
