WDJ Schooner Sapphire
To complete the triple play and add to Bjorn's WDJ and Richard's WDJ
albums; I've created an album with photos of the (mostly) re-
finished "SAPPHIRE", titled "Doc's WDJ". We now have all 3 existing
WDJ Schooner's documented in the Bolger Photo section.I've still got
interior finishing to do and more rigging details to work out, but I
was able to get her afloat and in sailable condition for the latter
part of our Wisconsin sailing season.
She's a joy to sail with unexpected speed and pointing ability that
I'm very satisfied with. The cabin is a totally unique feature to
most sailors, of course, and I was inundated with requests to show
off the centerline hatches, etc. Once seated inside and looking out
the windows, everyone "got it" and were generally impressed by the
design features Phil Bolger included. She is very livable and
comfortable and while we only overnighted a couple of times; it was
truly pleasant.
As you can tell, I'm very pleased and can't wait to have a full
season to use her.
Thanks to Bill Jochems for his advice and Bjorn and Richard for
their encouragement...and to the group as well for this great
forum...I've learned alot !
