Weeeel ya know - I should have invested in more boats than some other
stuff - like real estate in Saskatchewan;-D
And the first two on the list have "real" money to offer. You know
that green kind? And one a member of the fairer sex as well, not far
from here...another a blue-eyed sheik from Alberta.
But I don't really feel like the bonafide owner anyway - just taking
care of LESTAT for when you get the urge for a jaunt to God's Country
and I don't mean Gloucester.

Yes you got that right and LESTAT should be ready come the warmer
weather. Just need to refinish the spars and do up the deck finish a
bit but may do the entire hull if I get enough nerve. LESTAT is
sitting quietly and comfortably in a heated shop at a constant 50
degrees or so. In fact I just came across an article in an old WB
magazine regarding a sanding system they reviewed and looks worthwhile:
http://www.mirka-usa.com/products/brands/abranet.htm
Anybody tried that stuff?
Trouble is my full-time liveaboard - aka mobile home - is smaller than
the one I have in Sask and the shop is full of lots of my extraeneous
junk.
Funny - I got a call from a mutual aquaintence in Norway earlier today
and she is wondering what the hell is going on too. I told her about
your recent experience of being on the right hand of god - true to
your name. And that I was expecting another wrathful blast coming my way.

Have spent many hours sitting in Zephyr's cockpit and admiring it and
standing in the hatchway to look at a hard dodger like the OPL.
Think I would just have to install s second snotter about a foot
higher and would easily have standing headroom under the boom. Dan
said he sailed with one reef a lot of the time as the boat has lots of
canvas.
Another option I mightlook at is splicing in a one foot extension on
the tabernacle and a lead box on the bottom of the mast. This would
allow the mast to lower horizonatly over the cabin, as well as raising
the sprit boom higher. Probably need a larger mizzen then and some
more internal ballast?
Also put a hatchway forward and raise the bunks up, both very
straightforward changes. Anti-slap bow pad which gives more buoyancy
in the bow to support the lead counter-weight on the mast.
The other big challenge is to extend the steering in under the dodger.
Maybe just a cable system?

William,
Tks for sharing those shots of your Micro. I am always inspired to
see construction shots. My progress with building the OldShoe is
slow as well. I am collecting alot of pieces that I hope will come
together this next Spring and start looking like a boat. I have a
question for you. How did you mount your lead ballast? So far, my
plan is to have the hull finished upside down, dry fit the keel, load
the ballast, finish the keel and then lift it into position over the
keelson (with the help of many hands).
Best of luck to you, she is looking real nice.

Dan there are two happy days in a boat owener life.
The day they launch or buy the boat and the day they
sell the boat.
FIX?
well I just I got the word from the other half that
she wants to take the boat out this summer! The boat
happens to be a 17 foot fiberglass deep Vee skiff that
I've had for about 20 years. (I was going to cut the
thing up and keep the trailer, for a Bolger boat)
SO the plans for the boat have changed and she thinks
the boat is worth more fixed up and running then cut
up and taken to the dump. Cutting it up would be less
work! Oh well she won the coin toss!
She may be right. SO I'm going to take some of the
ideas I've seen of PCB and use them on the skiff. She
would like it set up for fishing. She also looked at
BWAOM... And has some ideas as well.
Well I have to do something to keep her happy! She has
been putting up with me for almost 8 years now! And
she has made my life a lot happer! I just hope I've
made her as happy as she has made over the years!
Hey I have one question when it's dome would any of
you want me to post some photos or it? I know it's not
a Bolger Boat.
Blessings all
