One of the problems with PCB's ability to write is that it's so
believeable that one tends to take everything he writes very
seriously. In my case, I accept what he writes about the good handling
of boat designed on the concepts of Cartoon 40. It's backed up by
Gary's report of excellent handling of the boat he built. The
principles are used and described in smilar fashion for Spartina,
which looks like a completely different boat.
Should I win a big lottery, I have it in mind to build a catboat along
the same lines about 25 feet long, but with topsides and cabin meant
to resemble the Baragat Bay A-cats. Probably gaff rig, and not the
marconi of the A-cats, though. I would want a boat just fast enough to
beat the Marshall 22's.
This project has been stalled by the failure of the financing scheme.
It's been pointed out that the odds of winning a lottery are almost
exactly the same whether you buy a ticket or not, so I've been saving
myself the $ and the bother of purchase.
