Bolger has a lot of rowing designs, there might be another that suites.

Hi Paul,

I agree....Mike could easily use a bit more hull and based on the
photos of his wherry,he will do a first class job of it too!
I suspect our Hero may have either reservations or simply not have the
time to work out a 10% mod.,.....but God knows I've been wrong before:-)

Buy the plans, and scale up accordingly.

Sincerely,

I built a Spur II 'from the book' not the plans, I also built a
'Cartoon 5' which is similar except double ended. Yes, if you have
long legs, stretching the boat a bit might be an improvement for
legroom. Both the boats are spectacular rowboats. I gave away my
Spur II, so my memory of it is fading, but the Cartoon 5 I still own
is truly my favorite rowboat. Tidbit of advice, don't over build it
as keeping everything light weight is well worth the trouble.

Thanks Bruce. You got to want to build it and jumping through a few
hoops keeps away the impulse buying of boat plans, a second chance, or
sober second thought on the next build. Maybe Bolger is just trying to
save us boat junkies from our next easy fix. The spur 11 is not my
project but for a boat builder friend who is not in cyber space but has
just completed and tested extensively a cedar strip cosine wherry. I
tried this wherry and it was a fine row and I also put the 2 hp Honda
on it and with a 500lb load was excellent and it appeared like another
500lbe would not be noticed much. Lovely workmanship and terrific
results both in looks and performance.
He would like to stretch the spur11 10% on the length and intends to
ask Bolger what the implications would be. The builder is a tall and
wide man and feels the extra length would give him more stability and
performance. I would forward on any comments you have or experiences
with the Spur11 Paul

Ask . Philip C. Bolger, P.O. Box 1209, Gloucester, MA, 01930, Fax:

Using a postal letter or fax. Their pricing is not set in stone, so
none of us know.
Could someone please give me the price for the spur11 plan from bolger
or point me to a link. thanks and lets have some boating stories for
us winter weary and epoxy challenged boat addicts. regards Paul
thinking about a december launch of almost any boat with the balmy
weather in ice cold Canada between the mighty Ottawa and st. Lawrence
rivers.
