Re: [bolger] Re: Pictures I took of Lions Paw 38 hull (w/link)

My big impression is how the steel holds up but the plywood rotted.
And, wow, is it the case that she was never launched in the ocean?
The boat has languished in a pasture a good 90 miles from the open
sea for years now. I asked the owner if he was saving it for his
grandkids to finish and he said yes but was perhaps being polite. It
was a design crafted for him personally and he deserves a lot of
credit for even taking it as far as he did, even if it was long ago.
I suspect many Bolger designs never even make it out of someones
idle fantasies and reveries. The second visit found it tarped and
the water drained from inside. The owner wasn't there to ask but
perhaps the sharpie will eventually find its way to the water. It
looks hungry to cleave some H20!!!!!

Something of a shame though that the owner has not taken the project
to the its'ultimate end. Fortunately, the zinc coating is doing its'
job and the plywood decking can be easily(relative to building the
whole hull from scratch) replaced in a reasonable amount of time.
Did the owner mention to you any desire to one day complete this boat?

very much for the fine photos! Amazing to see this hull after so many
years and better yet to actually see real people for the purposes of
scale.Excellent!
