Re: Plexiglass window tint for Philsboat (Birdwatcher style boat)
For boats that will see much sun Lexon is prefered over plexyglass as
it is harder stronger more scrach resistand and takes UV better but it
is about 3X more. HD caries it right next to the plexy glass but what
they have is thin. A glass shop should have it or be able to get it.

Chris I have been around a few boats that had tinted
windows. Some were real dark and some rather light.
Myself I liked the lighter bronze over the lighter
gray, I think they were 3 or 5% if I remember it was
just to cut the glare off the water most times. And
you could still see out at night with out going out on
deck.
You may want to get few samples and take then to your
sailing spot on a sunny day and look through them over
the water and see what ones cuts the glare best for
you.
The thing I don't like about the dark one is on a
cloudy day a lot of times you need to get a light to
see things in a locker or cubby hole. And at time just
to see whats in the table. Also you don't see much
outside at night.
Just me take on things.

Mr. Bolger has recommended untinted, I guess to maximize visibility.
My Birdwatcher has light gray tint. I am happy with it. I could
imagine that a dark tint would be a problem on a murky day.

I am ready to buy plexiglass for my Philsboat and have a question. I
am trying to decide on which color tint to get. The options are light
gray, dark gray, light bronze and dark bronze. I wonder what anyone
else has used for a Birdwatcher type of boat like this. Any thought or
recommendations?
