Re: stretch Bantam completes south florida circumnavigation.

That boat is so cool in so many different ways that it is scary.
Perfect boat for inland cruising. Nice story too.

I'm thinking about building a stretch Bantam. It's such a fantastic
boat! Perfect for my wife and I. You sure did a nice job building
yours. Will you please give me the specs of your 26 foot Bantam?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Bud

Hey those are some nice photos! Makes me wish for
summer already!

What kind of cruse speed were you getting? And how did
it handle the chop down there?

I remember a friend that lives in Key West telling me
about the 8 to 14 inch that they get a lot of the
time. Like any time they get a little bit of wind. One
of these days I need to take him up on the offer to
come down and enjoy the warm water warm friendship we
have had over the years....

Hmmm I may have to do that some time soon!

Blessings Krissie

Doggone it--every time I get reasonably happy with the
boats I have, somebody has to post picture of one I
can't live without. Stretched Bantam in the
keys--fantastic! Sam

Thanks for this Capt.

Is your boat availbale for rent?

There was another most complimentary article about Bantam in a recent
MAIB article.

I have to wonder if there is another small houseboat that is as
capable as Bantam and can get 20 MPG?

Why are there not more of them? What could be the drawbacks of such a
design. I am thinking of it as a VW Westfailia on floats.

That sounds great! Chartered?

If yes, tell us specifics of how this chartering works.
Great positive story! Thanks John! It must be a good feeling when one
gets such positive feed back on a boat of ones own building.

That raider of bars, robber of young virgins, builder of
boats, womanizer extraordinaire and mentor aka,Bruce Hector may still
be down in fabulous FLA committing sins unmentionable, much to the
regret of the local town folk.Kindly inform the local constabulary
that he left the country(USA) LONG AGO and was last seen sweet
talkin' some delectible dish along the shores of Great Slave
Lake,NWT........hee,hee.....that ought ta keep em busy enough until
Bruce REALLY does come back to the fair town of Kingston.

Me? Oh I was never there occifer, honest! Much too busy up here :-)

Sincerely,

Peter Lenihan, diligent A+ student of the pirate Big Bad Bruces'
School of Debauchery and Finer Living Inc.,from along the cold shores
of the St.Lawrence awaiting a big snow storm sometime tomorrow....

Pelican, a26 foot stretch Bantam, yesterday completed a trip from Fort
Pierce to Key West, Key West to Fort Myers and Fort Myers back home to
Fort Pierce. She was captained by Canadian Herb Radisch who spends
summers aboard his 25 Chris Craft on the Rideau.Herb spent only 4 or 5
nights at a dock, $35 a night in Key West, was questioned by water
police 4 times (they were looking for Bruce Hector or Peter Lenihan )
and was amazed by how little gas she used.HE cruised around 6 getting
near 20mpg in near silence with the 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke. He ran aground
only once, went through the everglades canoe trail, narrow and
shallow, went out to the pennekamp reefs, had to change course comming
across Lake Okeechobee to avoid big waves and said he had a great time.
He'd still be out there but the U.S. gov would only give him a 6 week
visa so he has to go home. He'll give Bruce and Peter the message. We
hauled her with my 6 cyclinder dodge van on her single axle trailer and
she's back in the yard, not a scratch, due to his good seamanship.A
brilliant designer, I asked his for input on improvements to this home
built boat."I can't think of any," he said. He has never brought his
Chris Craft south because he couldn't afford the gas and she could't
go where he went. Thanks again Mr Bolger.
